



The film was made during our study in ARTFX. Eight persons have been working on the production for 2 years. Each one has his specialty: matte painter (Olivier Puechberty), film editor (Olivier Raymond), modelers-animators (Vivien Guiraud, Fabien Rixens) and modelers, textures-shader, lighter, renderer and compositor (Gérald Blaise, Jérome Martinez, Benjamin Lenfant and me).
The pre-production took 6 months, making several scenario, design, storyboard and 2d animatic's versions.

As soon as we finished first models, we did a 3D animatic in order to help-us to calculate the exact length of each shot.
Then some of us textured and shaded the main model while other started the animation or finished the set and began to texture it using the camera-mapping technic

The render pipeline granted us the possibility to touch up each shot. That's why we planed to render several layers for each model: color, specular, reflectivity, Mask/Z-depth/DoF. Finally we rendered particles and fluid pass to add atmosphere.
Personally, I took part in all steps except the animation (from design to compositing).
It was a very enlightening experience.
